Welcome.
The old site has been pulled down, this new one will be gradually fixed up and dressed up over time.
My To-Do List, In Chronological Order:
1.) Make “Learn to play Esraj” Beginner Video packs available – including Basics of Indian Music, How To Tune your instrument, and all the details I would have wanted to know about if I did not have a teacher when I was starting out.
2.) Correct placement of your playing hand in order to be able to play the way Ustadji does. — correct meaning Same as Ustadji’s. Different masters have different styles, and so will have slightly different technique. + Exercises and Sargams to help develop muscle memory .
Other Pending Promises:
Raag Kaushikdhwani / Bin Shadja – Lesson – Alaap, Bandish, Sargams

hello Manav,
I recently registered on the Har Sangeet page; I love your playing and would like to play some myself so I look forward to getting to know your site better; it seems to offer a comprehensive base for a beginner. I am an instrument builder (classic guitars) in Florence Italy. I plan to make my own esraj and am working on the design. Of course I have studied the ‘Make your own esraj’ page extensively. I hope that I may be able to ask you some questions as I proceed.
by the way, curious about Toon wood, I did a search on Wikipedia which revealed some useful information, to which you may wish to refer. They state that there is no proper english name, though ‘chinese mahogany’ is sometimes used.
thank you for your work to make this site so nice.
sincerely,
John
